a fanlisting is a place for fans of a particular band, singer, show, movie, etc. to come together and build a listing of people from all around the world who are fans of that subject.

this fanlisting was created on may 29, 2003 and is dedicated to the album "Pretty Hate Machine" which was the first album released by Nine Inch Nails in november 1989.  this fanlisting was created because it didn't exist, and it was the first NIN album i owned.  most of the other NIN album fanlistings are taken, but somehow this one was overlooked, the one that started it all, which made no sense to me.  thus, this one came to be.

following a period working in a cleveland recording studio and playing in local bands, Trent Reznor began recording as Nine Inch Nails in 1988. the dark, atmospheric Pretty Hate Machine, written, played, and co-produced by Trent Reznor, was largely synthesizer-based, but the material was transformed onstage by a ferocious wall of guitars, and show-stealing Lollapalooza performances in 1991. coupled with a major US hit with "Head Like a Hole," it brought platinum status.
